ultimate hair crushes

For some reason I am really into long, beach-wave, bleached but my hair is totally incapable of being all surfer-cool so I can only lust after having long, luscious locks. Don't get me wrong, i love having short hair, i actually prefer it, but i can't help feeling envious when i see mermaid locks, knowing it is fully impossible with my hair. On the other hand, i do admire short hair (complete queen of contradiction here). it's more care free, it reminds me of 90s boy bands and Swim Deep and don't get me started on how much easier it is to tame. Argh, I dunno, I guess i'm neutral on the whole long vs short hair issue. Anyway, I have compiled a collection of all my hair crushes from Blondie to Chad Michael Murray in Freaky Friday.

It's v hard to sum up Grimes hair in a sentence. Actually, it's impossible, so lets just let this photo do the talking.

The only words to describe Chloe Norgaard's hair is one big rainbow mess (a good mess though). Her everchanging bleachy, beachy locks are hair heaven.

Blondie is queen of bleach though. Anyone else would look like a complete prat if they dyed the front of their hair and not the back but not only does she pull it off, she frickin rocks it.

When i had long hair, i spent most of the time trying to achieve haimhair (new word, oxford dictionary take note). I wasted money/time/effort on beach spray and not brushing it only to realise it was near impossible unless i got a hair transplant #cry i still lament over my ineptness to reach haimhair.

I don't like saying this but is it just me that thinks that alexa chung and freja beha are secret twins??? it is uncanny, i swear, the only difference is nationality. Either way their hair stands the test of time.

Skinny boys with shaggy hair are the eighth (unknown) wonder of the world. 90s boy bands and kurt cobain are the main culprits, also Ben Whishaw (heart eyes heart eyes heart eyes), who i forgot to include in the collage. This hair represents low maintenance but coolness too, whoever has this has the guts to wear it long and know it looks good.

yeah, maybe i only included ben whishaw cuz i wanted an excuse to see his face

soap and human sacrifice go hand in hand

Blue has always been a much more complex colour than the rest. To many it represents sadness, to others freedom. I recently read an article about the colour in july vogue considering it's place in fashion and everywhere else and it made me realise that blue is a universal colour with no true meaning, it represents whatever the person wants it to.

The colour blue suits everyone, which is probably why I was wearing an all-blue ensemble today, it's just one of those versatile colours that suits every mood/weather including sun (yes actual sun).

I guess you could say I was feeling blue today.

Cropped tee - TopShop
Shorts - eBay
Tie-dye socks - TopShop
Shoes- Nike Air Max (from Office)

I found these shorts on eBay this week after some intense floaty-shorts-hunting and besides being so so so pretty they are, I swear, the most comfortable thing I have ever worn. They remind me of tiles and now I really want to replicate this pattern into some ceramic tiles and just cover the house with them.

I accidentally unearthed fight club in my sister's room the other day and started reading it. I've never really given much thought to the book seeing as its such a great film but it is just as sardonic and ironical as the movie. There are so many great quotes in it too (that's where the post title is from), that I constantly feel the need to tweet/share with the world. It is the absolute epitome of dark humour.
~~~
Ultraviolence arrived this week, I was sceptical of it seeing as it hasn't exactly had rave reviews but I bloody love it. I'm usually influenced really easily by others' opinions but nothing will stop me from saying that lana has delivered another rad album. I think critics have grudges against second albums, they put so much pressure on the artists to deliver a a* album and then they go and slag it off with a 3 star review. Anyway, ultraviolence is just as American and smokey as born to die but with less hip hop beats and more guitar riffs (the riffs are sooo good - especially florida kilos). It's still cinematic and the dark undertones still linger but it sounds different, it has a different vibe from born to die. This has really taught me to not take reviews for granted, it's based on opinion not fact. (warning - I am an ldr superfan, so I may be biased) All of the songs are rad but my favourites are Cruel World, Florida Kilos + Brooklyn Baby.
sunday afternoon
Sunday afternoons are probably the most discouraging time of the week. Typically filled with homework panic, frenzied instrument practice and random baking (just me?). Amidst this feeling is the dread of monday morning, knowing that however late you go to bed on sunday night will not delay the inevitable drag of monday morning.
        In an attempt to banish this feeling, i distracted myself with blogging and random outfit photographing because i don't do outfit posts very often (no tripod/can't be bothered/blah blah blah).
        I'm lost in a total haze of revision at the moment (as pretty much every teen is actually) with innumerable exams looming and, seeing as the weather didn't make me want to hide under my duvet and stay there forever, I decided to go outside, even if I only went as far as the garden. Excuse my face, it doesn't know what to do when a camera comes near it.
cardigan - vintage
dungarees - Rokit
t shirt - Cayman Islands (my collection of worldly miniature t shirts is growing)
earrings (you can't even see them) - TopShop
I'm p sure the cardigan is my sister's via my Granny, it seems to me that most of the time I wear my family member's clothes, either a sign of greediness or just seizing an opportunity. For a while I was embarrassed to wear these dungarees, mostly because they are the height of bagginess, but I plucked up the guts to wear them on a non-uniform day and got loads of compliments and since then my dungaree-esteem has boosted. The t shirt actually belongs to my 10-year old self from a holiday to the Cayman Islands, I recently rediscovered it and realised that children's t shirts act very well as cropped tees.
Not quite sunday afternoon, but almost.
Not quite sunday afternoon, either.
